ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS

MASTERTON LODGE. PRESENTATION OF REGALIA. At the adjourned meeting of Loyal Masterton Lodge, P.G. Bro. E. J/ Mooney, acting Noble Grand, presided over a large attendance of members. Visitors were present from the Loyal Dannevirke, the Loyal Heart of Oak (Carterton) and the Loyal Eketahuna lodges. In extending a hearty welcome to the visitors the Noble Grand emphasised the value and importance of such visits and expressed the wish that the visitors would thoroughly enjoy themselves.

N.G. Bro. Smith, expressed the pleasure the members of Loyal Dannevirke Lodge felt at being present, and complimented the officers and members of Loyal Masterton Lodge on the warmth of the welcome. P.G. Bro. J. Carter, a foundation member of Loyal Eketahuna Lodge, said that he deemed it a groat privilege to be present. He conveyed fraternal greetings from his lodge and thanked members for according him the honours of the Order. P.G. Bro. Bruce, on behalf of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge members, assured the Loyal Masterton Lodge that they deeply appreciated the invitation extended to them and considered it a great honour to be present on such an occasion. PRESENTATION OF REGALIA. The Noble Grand then called upon Bro. H. S. M. Quigley, a Past Grand Master of the Order, to present Past Grand’s Collars to P.G's. Bros. A. Torrance and F. Knowles in recognition of the most valueable services they had rendered to the lodge whilst passing through the various chairs. In congratulating the recipients, Bro. Quigley stressed the importance of past officers retaining their interest in the welfare of their respective lodges. He considered that at a time such as the present when the affairs of many of the nations were practically in the melting pot, the Manchester Unity Order of Odd Fellows may be called upon to do what i: has previously done, namely, to provide benefits for any of its members who may be called upon to render active service. He complimented Bros Torrance and Knowles on their work on behalf of the lodge and expressed the wish that they might long be spared to wear the regalia, and also con tinue the great service they had at all times rendered to the lodge. P.G's. Bios. Torrance and Knowles suitably replied, thanking the lodge for the handsome presentation. They also gave their assurance to do all within their power to further the interest and welfare of the lodge and Order.

The secretary reported with regret the death of one of their oldest and most esteemed members, the late Bro. G. R. Scarfe, who passed away at Napier on July 14 last. The late Brother Scarfe joined the lodge on October 1 1900. It was resolved to forward a letter of condolence to the widow and relatives, expressing the deepest sympathy of ihe members in the loss they and the lodge had sustained. The lodge then closed, members adjourning to the Masonic Hall for the purpose of entertaining the guests at a social and dance.
