FERTILISER STRIKE
TERMS OF- SETTLEMENT. RESUMPTION OF WORK. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 24. The fertiliser workers’ strike was settled at a meeting of the disputes committee held in the Trades Hall at noon today when terms drawn up yesterday were confirmed by representatives of the companies and the men. The terms are as follow: —(1) Flat increase of ltd an hour on minimum rates of wages on all scales of the recent award ; (2) the new rates to operate as from the hour the men. resume work; (3) a suitable preference clause to be included; (4) the term of the agreement to be 18 months from the date of its coming into force; (5) all other provisions of the recent award to be written into the agreement.
Before concluding the business yesterday the disputes committee, on the motion of Mr E. R. Price, Conciliation Commissioner, carried by acclamation a vote of thanks to the chairman, Sir Ernest Davis, for his efforts toward a settlement. Appreciation of his efforts was also expressed by the men at the Trades Hall meeting today.
The men also passed a resolution expressing appreciation of the efforts of the Federation of Labour in negotiating on behalf of the men, and voiced confidence in the federation. Subsequently it was announced that the key men at the works would resume today and others as soon as they were needed.
