Achilles, escorted by twelve Native decorated fautasi. anchored in the roadstead at 8 a.m.. Their Excellencies came ashore at ten a.m. and were received by the Acting-Adminis-trator. Mi- A. C. Turnbull and Mi's Turnbull and Chief Judge Harley and Mrs Harley. On the whai'f were the Hon. High Chief Tamasese, European and Samoan members of the Legislative Council Administration officials and ■ their wives, faipule and othe Samoan officials. The Guard of Honour of Samoan Territorials under the command of Captain E. Pleasants was inspected by his Excellency. The road from the whai'f to the Town Clock Memorial Tower was lined with school children. His Excellency placed a wreath on the Memorial Tower and inspected the returned soldiers.

The party then proceeded to Mulinuo for native ceremonies. The streets were gaily decorated with arches and flags. The weather was excellent, with bril liant sunshine. Over two thousand persons lined the shore and street around the Customs Office and Clock Tower. A hearty and loyal welcome to Samoa was given by all.
