FATALLY SHOT
YOUTH IN AMUSEMENT PARLOUR. WANGANUI TRAGEDY. (By (Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, July 22. Eric Charles Hawkins, aged' 14 years, son of Mr and Mrs F. Hawkins. 76 Keith Street, was fatally shot today in the Amusement Parlours. Victoria Avenue. With another boy, he entered the building and was near the entrance at the back of which is a shooting gallery. The man who is in charge of the amusement parlour was away at the time, and Hawkins’s companion picked up one of the rifles, which discharged, the bullet striking Hawkins in the breast. Medical aid was called immediately, and the injured youth was taken to Wanganui Public Hospital in the Free Ambulance, but he died before admission. Hawkins was a student at Wanganui Technical College.
