COSY THEATRE

“IN OLD SANTA FE.” The screen’s most popular singing cowboy, Gene Autry, who has established himself in the hearts of New Zealand filmgoers, returns to the screen in “In Old Santa Fe,” one of the two attractions to be shown at the Cosy Theatre tonight. The star is supported by Ken Maynard, George “Windy” Hayes, H. B. Warner, Smiley Burnette, and Evelyn Knapp. Among the song numbers featured by Autry are “In Old Santa Fe“ and “Rhymes of the Range.” The story concerns the adventures of a cowboy on a dude ranch, and is abundant in fast action, hard riding, bright comedy and popular- hillbilly music. The picture was filmed in the picturesque High Sierras, and can definitely take its place amongst the finest westerns ever produced.

A gripping yarn that packs all the wallop of other similar stories turned out by the Warner Bros, studios in “Over the Wall,” is the second feature. The story has an unusual twist in the fact that Dick Foran, who capably plays the lead, literally sings his way out of prison, after he has been incarcerated on a frameup
