STOCK MARKET

FEILDING SALE.

KEEN DEMAND FOR SHEEP

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

FEILDING. July 21

What was regarded as one of the best sales so far this year took place in Feilding today, when all classes of sheep met with a keen demand. Cattle, with the exception of beef, also sold strongly. In the fat sheep section a sharp, rise was shown for ewes and wethers, the wethers being sought particularly. The shortage of supplies was partly responsible for this, together with the fact that the quality was good. The store sheep were of good quality, and the ewes, being clean and fresh-conditioned, made advanced prices. Quality lambs were in demand, but backward sorts were unchanged. Cows nearing profit met with a bright sale in 1 he dairy cattle section, prices rising by more than £2 a head for select sorts. Heifers were in firm demand. Though the store cattle section was large, there were some nicelyconditioned run stock, and for these prices were firm. A fair proportion of the entry was female stock, but there was no difficulty in selling these for they were in condition and forward. The fat cattle were not very finished but where weight and quality were right, prices held firm. Good vealers were in demand, though a few head of moderately prune steers made prices below the rates of last week. CARTERTON SALE PRICES WELL UP TO LATE RATES. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co.
