Vancouver. —The game of softball, which is a version of baseball played with a soft instead of a hard ball, was introduced to the sport-loving community of Hong Kong by the crews of the Canadian Pacific Empress liners two years ago. The game has become very popular there and the boys of these liners hold an annual competition for the softball trophy. This was won this year by the crew of the s.s. Empress of Canada. Members of the stall of this vessel also won the Thorncroft football trophy which is competed for annually by teams from the different Empress liners.
