MEETING OF WAIRARAPA UNION INTRUDERS ON THE FIELD. FORTHCOMING FIXTURES. (“Times-Age” Special.) The fortnightly meeting of the Wairarapa Rugby Football Union was held in the P. and A. Society's Board Room last evening and was presided over by Mr H. A. McPhee. There were also present: Messrs S. Henson, H. B. Booth. L. Pearson, K. Reid, C. E. Gray, B. Welch, M. Parker. K. G. Fairbrother and the secretary, Mr E. McKenzie. An apology for absence was received from Mr H. Benge. The manager of the Poverty Bay Rugby touring team, Mr James, was invited to attend the meeting and was accorded a very hearty welcome by the chairman, who hoped the visitors' stay in Carterton would be a pleasant one. Mr James acknowledged the welcome and thanked the chairman for his kindly words of welcome. A vote of thanks and appreciation, coupled with a monetary grant, was accorded the pipe band for their services at the Wairarapa-Hawke’s Bay match. Accounts amounting to £52 16s lid were passed. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £lBB 3s 9d at the Bank of New Zealand and £3 9s Id at the Post Office Savings Bank, making a total of £l9l 12s lOd. Receipts since last meeting amounted to £ll2 18s 6d. As the result of a report from the referee in a third grade match played recently, a Masterton and Martinborough player were stood down for one playing Saturday. The secretary of the Wairarapa Referees’ Association wrote regarding persons other than referees and players being on the football field without permission of the referee, as per law 10. The complaint was in regard to persons going on the field when a player was hurt. The chairman was of opinion that the laws of the game should be carried out as laid down. It was resolved that a letter be forwarded to the Referees' Association calling its attention to the fact that all injuries be attended to by members of the St. John Ambulance. Permission was granted to the Old Boys’ Club, Masterton, to play a match with Kia Toa team at Palmerston North on Saturday next. The application of C. Udy for a transfer from Red Star Club (juniors) to Opaki was declined. The Nelson Rugby Union wrote advising that arrangements were completed for the tour and asking that accommodation be arranged for the team for the game with Wairarapa on August 5. The Marlborough Rugby Union wrote thanking the Wairarapa Union for the hospitality extended to its team while in Masterton and especially thanking Messrs Henson, H. B. Booth and Donald for kindnesses bestowed. The New Zealand Rugby Union wrote advising that a grant of a subsidy of £4O had been made toward the cost of the school tourney and asking it to be particularly noted that the subsidy is to be used in payment of fares of visiting teams. The report of Mr Gordon Udy, manager of the Wairarapa junior representative team, which visited Hawke's Bay last Saturday, was received and lie was accorded a vote of thanks. It was resolved that the Hawke's Bay Union be thanked for the hospitality extended to the team. Mr K. Reid reported that the Carterton Football Chib would be holding a dance on Saturday night at which the Poverty Bay representatives' would be guests, and that the cup won by Wairarapa juniors against Hawke’s Bay would be presented. It was resolved that the chairman attend and present the trophy. Managers were appointed as under for Saturday’s games:—Curtain-raiser, Possibles and Probables, Messrs S. Henson and K. G. Fairbrother; Wairarapa and Poverty Bay, Mr K. Reid. Mr J. Blake will referee the former game and Mr H. Matson the latter. Various entertainments were arranged for the benefit of the visiting Poverty Bay team during its stay in Carterton. Mr H. B. Booth was accorded a vote of thanks for his report of the Wai-rarapa-Bush representative game las: Tuesday. It was decided that Mr K. Reid managn [he Wairarapa senior representatives against Nelson, at Masterton or August 5, and that admission charge be Is 6d and Is. _ A curtain-raiser to this game will be North v. South Wairarapa juniors.
