YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB FORTHCOMING BALL. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of the Featherston Young Farmers’ Club was held on Tuesday night to discuss arrangements for the first annual ball to be held in the Anzac Hall, Featherston, next month. It was decided to secure Udy’s Orchestra and to send invitations to the district secretary and the organising secretary.
CHURCH AFFAIRS PRESBYTERIAN ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Presbyterian Church session was held on Tuesday evening. The Rev. R. S. Keenan presided over a good attendance. Mr Arch. Clark (session clerk) read the session report which showed a very satisfactory position. The manager's report was read by Mr Clark (secretary) and the statement of receipts and expenditure by Mr -T. G. Hardie on behalf of the finance committee. The year finished with an increased credit balance. Reports were • read and adopted, as follows: —Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union, Mrs S. Burt; Maori Mission Birthday League, Miss Grace Yule; treasurer’s report, P.W.M.U., Mrs Arch. Clark; South Featherston Sunday School, the Rev. R. S. Keenan; Bible Class, Miss Joan Houston; Eible Class treasurer’s report, Miss M. Hardie; South Featherston Eible Class, Misses Jean Burt and M. Thorn; Guild, Miss Goodrick; Guild treasurer’s report, Miss Yule. A vote of thanks was passed to the Sunday School teachers, organists and other office bearers of the church. The following managers were reelected: —Misses Donald and Towart, Mrs Arch. Clark; Messrs M. B. Tait, Duncan Wilson, T. G. Hardie. B. Donald. G. Yule, J. Blain. J. W. Fellingham, F. S. Hayes and Ron. Sadler. The Rev. F. Blomfield, of Greytown, gave an address. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr and Mrs Keenan for their devoted services during the past year. It was decided to send a letter of sympathy to Mrs J. Anderson in her illness and express the hope for her speedy recovery. The following items were rendered: Solo, Mrs Houston: recitation, Miss Betty Smith; solo. Mrs Willett; recitation, Miss Hazel Bergh; solo, Mr H. Clark; accompanist. Mrs Arch. Clark. Gold Rose Ball. The committee lor the Gold Rose Ball to be held in the Kahutara Hall next week is working hard to make it a successful function. Greytown Ladies' Rest Room. The tender of Mr F. C. Benton, Featherston, at £3lO has been accepted for building the Grey town Ladies’ Rest Room. Golf Abandoned. Owing to the rough weather there was no golf at Gum Grove links yesterday. Band Concert. The Masterton Band concert, which was to have been held last Sunday week, but had to be postponed owing to the bad weather, will be held tonight in the Town Hall. Wairarapa Racing Club. The annual meeting cf the Wairarapa Racing Club will be held on Thursday, August 24. at 2 p.m. All the retiring officers are eligible for re-elec- , tion.
