ART UNION WINNER
ONE OF THE “TWO DRUNKS” APPEARANCE IN COURT. CHARGE OF INTOXICATION WHILE DRIVING. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. One of the holders of the winning ticket in the last art union, Edward Vernon Reynolds, appeared in Court this morning charged with being in toxicated while in charge of a car. He was remanded to July 28. ‘•This man is one of the ‘Two Drunks’ who won the last art union, and they have plenty of money,” said Sub-In-spector Packer, in asking that bail be substantial. The Magistrate, Mr E. C. Levvey, said he would fix bail at £2OO, vzith a surety of £2OO. There would also be a hit-and run charge, said the sub-inspector, in asking for a remand. Reynolds was in a drunken state, and while driving past the Hospital struck a man and went on. Another motorist started up his car and gave chase, finally getting the number of th* 3 vehicle.
