COMIC IMPASSE

MAKE-UP OF INDIANS. The question of who should daub war-paint on Indians being used for sequences in "Geronimo” at Paramount almost came to a comic impasse. The braves insisted that they do their own daubing because it was a ritual, and every stroke of paint had a significance, while make-up men, backed by their union, said they would call a strike if they were not employed. In a compromise Paramount had to employ the regular amount of make-up men to stand by and watch the braves daub their own bodies. Both parties were satisfied.
