HEAVY SNOW

BETWEEN NELSON & MOTUEKA. TROUBLE WITH TELEGRAPH LINES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Telegraphic communication between Nelson and Motueka was lost last night, the P. and T. Department states, owing to heavy falls of snow. Faults developed in the vicinity of Richmond and Upper Moutere and contact with Motueka was lost at 7.25 p.m. A line gang left Nelson at approximately 8 p.m. and removed several faults, but further trouble developed beyond Richmond. Work was hampered by a continued and heavy snowfall and at a late hour the gang suspended operations, which were resumed early this, morning, with the result that communication was restored at 8.45 a.m.
