MASTERTON CLUB. LADDER COMPETITION. The Masterton Chess Club held its weekly meeting in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms last evening, the attendance being somewhat impaired owing to inclement weather. A start was made with the ladder games, results being as follows: —E. H. Heyder 1, R. Jamieson 0; J. Shearer 0, J. Cartwright 1; H. Green 1, P. Gilchrist 0; N. Lamont 0, C. C. Judge 1; F. Shearer 0, Mrs Cartwright 1.

Owing to the Y.M.C.A. not beingavailable next week it is hoped to hold next Monday’s meeting in the Odd Fellows’ Hall, Queen Street. Should these arrangements fall through a special notice in regard to the place of meeting will be announced later.
