OFFENDERS IN COURT

WANGANUI SENTENCES.

(By Telegraph-—Press Association.) WANGANUI, This Day.

Vernon Dilmont Clark Bray, a railway surfaceman aged 19, was sentenced to two- months imprisonment with hard labour by Mr A. Coleman, S.M., for assaulting a_ girl aged 101 years when travelling on a train between Marton and Hunterville on June 30. John Charles Beecher, aged 24, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment with hard labour on nine charges of theft of bicycles, spare wheels and tyres of motor-cars, a saddle and petrol. The bicycles were stolen in Wan; ganui when Beecher was employed, as a farm labourer in Waverley and sold there, the numbers being removed.
