The Australian Davis Cup team, fresh from the victory over Mexico, began its second match, against the Phillipine Islands, in fine style, Quist scoring a brilliant victory of R. Sanchez, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2; Bromwich beat Ampon, 8-6, .9-71 6-3. In the doubles Bromwich and Quist beat Ampon and Sanchez, 7-5, 6-4, 6-2. Crawford beat Hopman. 2-6, 10-8, 6-1, in an exhibition singles match. MIXED DOUBLES. NATIONAL PAIRINGS NEW YORK, July 15. The pairings for the national mixed doubles are: J. Bromwich (Australia) and' Mme Mathieu (France), J. Crawford (Australia) and Miss B. Nuthall (■Britain). H. Hopman (Australia) and Miss A. Marble (U.S.A.). A. K. Quist (Australia)- will not be competing.

Quist and Crawford will compete at the Longwood Bowl tournament in Boston next week. Bromwich and Hopman may play in Vancouver.
