CAR OUT OF CONTROL
RESULT OF TIRE BURSTING
SIX OCCUPANTS INJURED.
ONE DIES IN HOSPITAL.

Owing to a tire bursting, a sedan motor-car. with six occupants, got out of control when descending the Stoke side of Bishopdalc Hill on Saturday evening, and turned over, becoming a complete wreck so far as the bodywork was concerned.
All the car’s occupants were taken to hospital. Charles Knight, a butcher, aged 58, late of Christchurch, died on Sunday morning of internal injuries. W. M. Bourne, of Takaka, the driver, received head injuries which are not serious. Colin Berkett, of Hope, sustained severe facial cuts, but they are not serious. Miss Doris Berkett, of Hope, sustained a broken collarbone, Miss Rata Kenning an injured back, and D. M. McLaren shock and bruises.
