Arrangements made by the Auckland Hospital Board for a seaplane service to Great Barrier Island in cases of serious illness were warmly commended by a resident of the island, Mr S. Medland, of Tryphena. in a letter to the board recently. He said that after finding it necessary to summon a seaplane on four occasions in the last eight years, he could ijot speak too highly of the service. “Stone age methods arc at last being cast aside in regard to the roads of the island. and work is progressing with modern machinery that reflects credit on those responsible.” Mr Medland stated. "We hope in the future to have all the ports of the island, including the aerodrome, connected by good metalled roads."
