Biddulph was placed third in the 800 metres free style last night, despite a spectacular sprint to overtake Bob Pirie (Canada) who was second. The winner was Kioyshi Nakama. of Maui, whose time was ten minutes 15 seconds, a new Hawaiian record. Biddulph did not enter in the other events, Pirie won the hundred metres free style. Paul Wolfe, of Los Angeles, was second and Takashi Hirose, of Maui, third. The Australians won the four hundred metres novice relay race.
