KNOX CHURCH

LADIES’ GUILD. ANNUAL MEETING. A further successful social evening organised by Knox Church Ladies’ Guild was held in the John McLennan room, Knox building, on Wednesday evening. Before the social commenced the ladies of the Guild held their annual meeting. The Rev J. Davie .presided in the absence of the president, Mrs G. W. Morice. The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —President, Mrs G. W. Morice; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames Davie, Ractliffe, Reynolds, McGregor, Shearer, Dickel, Kerry and Miss L. McGregor; visitingcommittee, Mesdames Taylor (convener), Henderson, Malmo, Gaskin, Tooby; entertainment committee, Mesdames Traynor (convener), Hulme, Dickel, Kerry, Miss B.utement; secretary and treasurer, Mrs J. Kitchener. The Rev J. Davie thanked members of the retiring committee for their work during the past year, making special reference to the efforts of Mrs Traynor as convener of the entertainment committee.

I The secretary was directed to write to Mrs Morice expressing the Guild's : sympathy with her in her illness, j Mrs Welch offered to be responsible for seeing that flowers were placed in i the church every Sunday. ■ It was agreed to continue the monthly social evenings until later in the year. There will not be a social ■ next month, however, owing to the opening of the new building. The social which followed proved a very happy occasion for all who attended. Those who contributed to the programme were:—Songs, Mrs Dingle, Mr Greer; duets. Misses Heather and Joyce Douglas. An amusing play reading was also presented, those taking part being Misses Douglas, M. Pither. Messrs Gaze, Graham, Joseph and Miss N. Brown (reader). Two competitions were won by Mrs F. Reynolds and Miss M. McGregor respectively. Supper was served by the members of the Guild to whom a cordial vote of thanks was passed. Thanks were also expressed to those who had provided the items.
