MARTINBOROUGH

.......... CENTENNIAL BATHS MEETING OF COMMITTEE. ("Times-Age” Special.)

There was a most disappointing attendance at the meeting held lost evening in connection with the swimming baths proposal. Only four sports bodies showed any interest by sending representatives to the meeting and with so small attendance very little business was transacted. The Mayor (Mr C. W. Skill) was in the chair.

After discussion it was decided that the combined sports bodies of the town be called together to nominate a King and Queen and that the Young Farmers' Club be asked to act similarly; then a King and Queen Carnival could be launched.

An important fact in connection with raising funds for public baths is that every £3 collected before September 30 will be subsidised by the Government to the extent of £l. It was. therefore, stressed to the executive last evening the urgency of making a move immediately.
