METHODIST CHURCH

LADIES’ GUILD MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Methodist Ladies' Social Guild was held at the residence of Mrs F. J. Parker, Lincoln Road. The gathering which took the form of a social afternoon, was presided over by the Rev. ,F. J. Parker. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Cocker, Madsen, Brader and Hancox.

The proceeds from the Bring and Buy table which was in charge of Mesdames Judd and Neilsen were very satisfactory. Mrs Handyside reported that the recent gathering which was held to raise funds for the Pyramid effort had proved successful. A letter was received from the Rev. G. F. Stockwell acknowledging a letter of sympathy from the Guild in his illness. Members were glad to hear that Mr Stockwell is steadily improving in health. Mr Parker spoke in feeling terms of the death of Mr C. E. Daniell whose interest in and love for the church were so well known. Members stood in silence for a moment as a mark of respect to the memory of Mr Daniell. Miss Ivy Donald rendered two much appreciated elocutionary items and Mrs H. Speight sang a solo in her usual excellent style.

Miss V. Jackson expressed the thanks of the meeting to Mrs Parker for her hospitality, to Mesdames Fly and Daysh who acted as hostesses and to Mrs Speight and Miss Donald for their items.

The pronouncing of the benediction brought the meeting to a close.
