WAIRARAPA v. HAWKE’S BAY. LOCAL TEAM SELECTED. The following team has been selected by Mr K. Reid to represent Wairarapa against Hawke's Eay at Memorial on Saturday:— Full back: F. Fitzgerald (Carterton). Three-quarters: W. Peterson (Red Star). G. Brown < Carterton), E. Thompson (Carterton). Five-eighths: O. Hatton (Old Boys). R. Brunton (Greytown). Half-back: E. K. Joblin (Gladstone). The Hawke's Bay team is a clever combination, particularly skilled in back play; consequently patrons should see at the Memorial Park on Saturday a bright display in which the open passing game will predominate. In the forward division Hawke’s Bay is moulding a team on the lines of that of the days of the Brownlees. The game promises to be a determined struggle for supremacy as Wairarapa has been training steadily, and is determined to “put its best foot forward.” The Pipe Band will be in attendance at the Memorial Park on Saturday, and will play .selections, COLLEGE GAME. WIN FOR WANGANUI. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, July 12. Fine movements in which backs and forwards participated were features of the annual Rugby match between the first fifteens of Wanganui Collegiate School and Palmerston North High School played here today and won by Wanganui Collegians by six points (two unconverted tries) to three (one unconverted try). The Wanganui backs were superior to the visitors, but both packs of forwards were very even, with Palmerston North having the better of the game territorially in the second half.
