Seventy thousand persons witnessed the bout which took place at the White City. Numbers were turned away. The queues extended for a quarter of a mile. The crowd swept away the police on throe occasions and crashed through barriers and secured better seats. The traffic was chaotic.
The fighting was vigorous throughout. Harvey, after a clever defensive, gained the initiative, fighting fast and purposefully. He scored with an effective straight left. The return match between Eddie Phillips and Jack Doyle resulted in Phillips knocking his opponent out in the first round. i Boxing in England 12p.t HENNEBERRY BEATS DAVIS. In a middleweight boxing bout at the White City, the Australian, Fred Henneberry, defeated George Davis, of Notting Hill, champion of the southern area. The referee stopped the fight in the third round.
