FEATHERSTON
4 YOUNG FARMERS MEETING OF CLUB MEMBERS. (“Times-Age" Special.) There was a good attendance of young farmers at a meeting held in the Racing Club Buildings when Mr M. J. Scott, superintendent of the Pig Industry gave a highly instructive and interesting address on Pig Farm Management. Amongst his main points was sanitation and warm and clean pastures. He also mentioned the various ways in which the animals contracted various diseases, which could, in most instances be avoided by careful management, during his remarks. He stressed the fact that best class of pigs should be used in this profitable sideline of the dairy farmer. Mr Scott was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks for his able address.' After the lecture the business of the club was dealt with. It was decided to hold their annual ball in August. Hockey Club Social. A hockey club social was held in the small room at Anzac Hall on Saturday night, when competitions and dancing were enjoyed. Mrs Staples was the winner of the competition and the Monte Carlo was won by Mr Simmonds and Miss Joyce Hatton. The music was supplied by Mr Len Daysh, with extras were played by Mrs R. Skipage, Mr Ron Sadler (piano accordion) and Mrs Himona. Mr Chas. Buck acted as M.C. Supper was supplied by the ladies' committee. Hockey Game Forfeited. The Masterton College D team forfeited to Featherston on Saturday. Personal. Miss Joyce Hatton, of the Wellington Training College, was home for the weekend.
