WIMBLEDON TENNIS TOURNEY. WOMEN'S SINGLES TO MISS MARBLE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON. July 8. Despite intermittent rain before the women’s singles final, which was played today, a crowd assembled in a queue 12 hours before the opening. Miss Marble (U.S.A.) defeated Miss Stammers (Britain), 6-2, 6-0. Miss Marble won the toss. She lost the first point, but from then on she was unbeatably victorious, compelling Miss Stammers to assume the defensive throughout. Miss Stammers won only 11 ..points in the second set. The match lasted half an hour.

The contestants were presented to Queen Mary. After a very long battle Cooke and Riggs defeated Hare and Wilde in the men’s doubles final. The Americans were confident throughout, excelling in their placements and winning* volleys and smashes. Mrs Fabyan and Miss Marble, in the final of the women’s doubles, easily defeated Misses Jacobs and Yorke. Miss Marble here reproduced her attacking game in all its genius, the opponents being outclassed in pace, placements and net work.

With Riggs winning the singles on Friday, America took all the championships. WOMEN'S SINGLES. Final. Miss A. Marble (U.S.A.) beat Miss K. Stammers (Britain), 6-2, 6-0. WOMEN’S DOUBLES. (Holders: Mrs S. Fabyan and Miss A. Marble, U.S.A.). Fourth Round. Miss K. Stammers and Mrs Hammersley (Britain) beat Miss E. H. Harvey and Mrs M. R. King (Britain), 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. Semi-final. Mrs S. Fabyan and Miss A. Marble beat Miss K. Stammers and Mrs Hammersley (Britain), 8-6, 6-3. Final. Mrs Fabyan and Miss Marble beat Misses Jacobs (U.S.A.) and Yorke (Britain), 6-1, 6-0. MIXED DOUBLES. (Holders: J. D. Budge and Miss A. Marble, U.S.A.). Fifth Round. E. T. Cooke and Mrs S. Fabyan (U.S.A.) beat A. D. Russell (Argentina) and Mrs Hammersley (Britain), 7-5, 3-6, 6-3. Semi-final. Wilde and Miss Brown beat Cooke and Miss Fabyan, 6-3, 7-5.

1 Final. Riggs and Miss Marble beat Wilde and Miss Brown, 9-7, 6-1.

ALL-ENGLAND PLATE, McNeil beat Vandenynde 8-6, 6-2. Mrs McKelvie beat Miss Weiwers, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
