In protest against the sharp reduction in wages enacted in the new relief Bill, nation-wide strikes of serious proportions are occurring among Works Progress Administration workers. who in many cases are backed by ;he American Federation of Labour. Skilled workers walked off projects in various parts of the country arid it is feared that a total of 150.000 may be affected, with 'possible sympathetic strikes in non-W.P.A. work. The committee of Industrial Organisation is also expected to assist the strike movement, which in cities such as Now York and Chicago will seriously delay public works, large-scale housing and so on.
