Montreal. —Most of the 15,000 letters carried on the inaugural flight of the Trans-Canada Air Lines transcontinental mail planes on March 1 were from philatelists in Canada, the United States. Great Britain. South America and Belgium. Ottawa. —Canada imported 3.250.104 pounds of raw rubber valued at 486,000 dollars in the month of February as compared with 1,377.402 pounds at 199.480 dollars in February, 1938. Of this total the British Straits Settlements supplied 2.703.459 pounds valued at 398,964 dollars. On the other hand. Canada exported rubber manufactures to the value of 1,315.183 dollars as compared with 859,469 dollars a year ago. Of this total manufactured rubber goods to the value of 21.264 dollars went to the British Straits Settlements consisting mainly of rubber tires and tubes, belting, hose, and soles.
