PERSONAL ITEMS

Mrs R. R. Johnston, of Woodville, is visiting Wellington. Mrs E. Vogt, of Rongotea, is the guest of .Mrs H. Giles, Woodville. Mrs A. D. Low, Essex Street, has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mr and Mrs Ronald Ruddick, Auckland, were visitors to Masterton yesterday. Mr and Mrs A. P. Bennett, Renall Street, are spending a few days in Wellington. Miss Mavis Taylor, of Essex Street, Masterton, will leave tomorrow on a holiday trip to Sydney and a tour of Australia. Miss P. Taylor, of Temuka, South Island, who has been on holiday in Masterton, left today for Wellington, where she will spend a few days prior to returning to her home. Mrs J. N. Henson and her daughter Miss Zelma Henson of Wellsford, North Auckland, who have been staying with relations in Masterton and Eketahuna, leave today for Otorohanga. The Wanganui-Marton branch of the Solway Old Girls’ Association held its June meeting at the home of Mrs Hammond (nee Cockburn) in Marton. The work of various branches was discussed. Miss Roma King, a visitor from Waipukurau, spoke of a dance held by the Central Hawke’s Bay branch. Another visitor, Mrs C. Smith (nee Mackintosh), Puketaha, was able to renew old acquaintanceships. The majority of old girls brought bazaar work, and Miss Mavis Cockburn reminded everyone that bazaar work must be finished by September so that it could be judged. The meeting concluded with a hearty vote of thanks to Mrs Hammond. , Those present included Mesdames Hammond, Smith, Christie and Poppe, and the Misses S. Walker, M. Cockburn, L. Cockburn, N. Laurence, R. King, B. Dunkley, J. Bailey, R. Smith and I. Craine
