HEAVY FOURTH OF JULY TOLL IN U.S.A. IN SPITE OF SAFETY CAMPAIGN. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright NEW YORK. July 5. Despite a widespread campaign for a safe and sane Fourth of July holiday. the violent death-toll has reached approximately 600. Highway accidents claimed the largest number —255. Fireworks, which are usually a prolific source of deaths during the Independence Day celebrations, resulted in only two fatalities, although many were injured by them. California led all the States with 64 deaths. '
