WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY COUNCIL. NOTICE OF INTENTION TO STRIKE RATES. XTOTICE is hereby given that it is the intention of the Wairarapa South County Council at its monthly meeting to be held on the 2bth day of July, 1939, at 10.30 a.m., in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by the Counties Act, 1920. and the Amendments thereof, and by the Acts hereinafter respectively mentioned: FIRSTLY, by Sections 51 to 59 inclusive of the Rating Act. 1925, to make and levy a General Rate of one penny and five-eighths of a penny in the pound on all rateable values (being the unimproved values) of all rateable properties comprising the County of Wairarapa South. SECONDLY, by Section 52 of The Hospital & Charitable Institutions Act, 1926, and by Sections 51 to 59 inclusive of the Rating Act, 1925, for the purpose of paying the Council’s contribution to the Wairarapa Hospital Board, to make and levy a Separate Rate to be called a “Hospital Rate,” of eleventwentieths of a penny in the pound on- all rateable values (being the unimproved values) of all rateable properties comprising the County of Wairarapa South. THIRDLY, by Section 45 of The Water Supply Act, 1908, and by Sections 51 to 59 inclusive of the Rating Act, 1925, for the purpose of maintaining and repairing the Taratahi Water-races, to make and levy a Separate Rate to be called “Taratahi Water-race Maintenance Rate” of three-fifths of a penny in the pound on all rateable values (being the Capital Values) of all rateable properties comprising the Taratahi Wa-ter-race Special Rating Area; AND FOURTHLY.' by Sections 45 of The Water Supply Act, 1908, and Sections 51 to 59 inclusive of the Rating Act, 1925, for the purpose of maintaining and repairing the Carrington Waterraces, to make and levy a Separate Rate, to be called “Carrington Waterrace Maintenance Rate,” of one-half penny in the pound on all rateable values (being the unimproved values) of all rateable properties comprising the Carrington Water-race Special Rating Area. Also, under the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act. 1926, to collect as much as is required of each of the annual recurring special rates levied within the County of Wairarapa South to provide the annual charges on the loans raised. All such General. Separate and Special Rates respectively to be for the period commencing Ist April, 1939, and ending 31st March, 1940, and to be payable in one sum on the 31st day of July, 1939, at the Office of the Wairarapa' South County Council, Memorial Square. Carterton. The Valuation Rolls and the Rate Books for the period mentioned are open for inspection at the County Office during Office hours until the 20th day of July, 1939. Notice is hereby given that the Council has resolved to allow every ratepayer a rebate of five per centum on the General Rate payable by him provided such rate and all arrears arc paid before the expiration of 30 days from the due date thereof.
