ESPERANTO
MASTERTON CLUB MEETING. Correspondence in Esperanto from Yugoslavia, England, Bulgaria, Hungary and Austria (now Germany), was presented at the weekly meeting of the Masterton Esperanto Club held last evening in the clubroom, Municipal Buildings. Mr A. Dewar, D.8.E.A., presided over a very satisfactory attendance, which included Mr W. H. Tooley, a visiting Esperantist from Wellington and Christchurch. General business dealt with included a circular letter from the New Zealand Esperanto Association relative to the establishment, organisation and maintenance of Esperanto clubs in the Dominion; and it was decided to place the information contained in the communication before the annual general meeting of the club at the conclusion of the present season. Conversational practice under the direction of the secretary, Mr W. H. King, occupied almost an hour. Conducted with the aid of a blackboard, this practical application of Esperanto is proving to be very helpful to members in the acquisition of fluency in the use of the international language. During the evening moving pictures were shown to the club by Mr Tooley, whose selection comprised views of the ninth New Zealand Esperanto Congress at Wellington, Dominion scenery, topicals and educational pictures in colour, all of which had been photographed by the exhibitor. At the conclusion of the exhibition. Mr Tooley was warmly thanked for his very enjoyable contribution to the programme.
The meeting closed with the signing, in Esperanto; of the melody “Nun Venas la Hor’ ” (Now in the Hour.)
