DUKE OF KENT
LARGE SCALE CEREMONIES NOT DESIRED IN AUSTRALIAN STATE CAPITALS. ON ACCOUNT OF DEFENCE EXPENDITURE. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright;. (Received This Day. 11.10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The Duke of Kent has informed the Commonwealth Government that because of the need for heavy expenditure on defence, he does not desire large scale official ceremonies on his arrival at the State capitals.
It is possible, however, says the "Sydney Morning Herald’s” Canberra correspondent, that the Commonwealth Government's reception will be planned as a spectacle befitting the occasion.
