BATTLE OF “HAIR-DOS”
CAROLE LOMBARD’S COIFFURE.
The battle of the hair-dos still rages but it takes an advocate, until now, of the curls-low-on-the-neck-in-a-long-bob school of thought to evolve an upwards hair-do that manages to bridge the gap between the two styles. This coiffure, an all around roll that is built high at the top of the head but which rolls away from the ears at the back, is worn by Carole Lombard in a scene in “Made For Each Other.” She points out that it is up and off the cars enough for any upwards addict but soft and low enough to please those who object to the skinned off the back of the neck feeling. In addition it has none of the usual objections to a compromise arrangement as it is so very 1900 in influence it will fit in with all of the newest Paris sponsored “turn of the century” styles.
