A scientific exhibition of wrestling was witnessed at the Town Hall on Saturday evening, when Earl McCready, British Empire heavyweight champion, beat Ignacio Martinez. Spanish-American, by one fall. This was obtained in the seventh round. Martinez attempted a lift and slam but missed, and he in turn was lifted and hurled heavily to the mat, McCready then pinning his opponent with a body-press. BLOMFIELD BEATS BOESCH. NEW PLYMOUTH, July 2. Solid, spectacular wrestling was seen by an almost record crowd last night when Lofty Blomfield beat Paul Boesch on points. Blomfield submitted to a rolling short-arm scissors in the third round, but equalised in the seventh with an octopus clamp that so weakened his opponent that he was no match for Blomfield in the last round.
