BOATING TRAGEDY

TWO MEN DROWNED. THIRD SAVED BY ONLOOKERS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GISBORNE, July 2. Thrown into heavy surf when a boat capsized, two young men were drowned at Anaura Bay today. The victims were: — Bert Evans, aged 24, formerly of Wales, station hand. Rodney O’Connell, aged 18, Gisborne, station hand. A third man in the boat, Keith Baty, aged 17, was washed toward the shore and was saved by onlookers, who dragged him out of the surf. The bodies of the other two had not been recovered by nightfall.
