APPLICATIONS are invited for (a) short service commissions in the Royal Air Force, and (b) commissions in the Pilots’ Section of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Reserve. GENERAL. All candidates must have attained the age of 17£ but not of 28 years, be unmarried, able to pass the prescribed medical examination, and educated up to the standard of the School Certificate or the University Entrance Examination. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT APPLICANTS SHALL HAVE ATTAINED THE STANDARD OF EDUCATION REQUIRED. (a) SHORT SERVICE COMMISSIONS. Candidates for appointment to short service commissions will undertake an initial training period of approximately eight months in New Zealand before proceeding overseas to complete a further five years’ service in the Royal Air Force. A candidate on completing his service in the Royal Air Force will be required to serve for a period oi five years on the Reserve. Return pas>sage to New Zealand and a gratuity ol £4OO is paid on completion of the active service period. (b) R.N.Z.A.F. RESERVE (PILOTS’ SECTION). On appointment to the Pilots’ Section of the Royal New Zealand Air-Force-Reserve, a candidate is required to undergo an initial period of approximately eight months’ continuous training.
