LONDON QUOTATIONS LAMB MARKET VERY FIRM DEMAND FOR CHILLED BEEF. Lamb market: Remains very firm. Competition continues good. Mutton market: Wethers firm, with better inquiry. Ewes steady. Beef market: Frozen beef meeting with better trade. Chilled beef firmer on the good demand and lighter supplies. New Zealand porker pigs: Consumption slow, but prices higher on the speculative buying. New Zealand baconer pigs: Firmed owing to higher prices. Continental bacon. Boneless bobby veal: Continues firm on shortage of supplies. The above report was received yesterday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday. Chilled beef prices are averages of the week. All prices are on the basis of delivered to Smithfield Market.
