CARTERTON
ACTIVITY ON FARMS SEASONAL OPERATIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) During the past few days the Carterton railway station has been a very busy place. Hundreds of tons of artificial manure have arrived, to be unloaded and conveyed to farms all round the Carterton and adjacent districts. In many instances advantage has been taken to distribute it upon the pastures. A good rain is now all that is required, ihere is considerable activity on.farms, in view of the seasonal operatiohs under way. Poultry Show Exhibits. Mr J. Laurenson, a noted breeder and exhibitor of game poultry, yesterday despatched several birds by rail to Hastings, where they will compete at the Hasting’s Poultry Association’s Show. Mr Geo Edge, also a prominent breeder, will exhibit his birds at the Lower Hutt Show next week. Personal /Items. Mr and Mrs Jas Fisher, Clareville, are visiting Wellington, where Mr Fisher is attending a conference of the National Dairy Association. Mr W. B. Allen, who has been an inmate of Greytown Hospital, has re turned to his son’s home again. A wedding of interest to Carterton residents will be celebrated in Carter ■ ton next Saturday week. ' Football Fifteens. Carterton will field the following team against Gladstone tomorrow:— Harp, Thompson, Brown, Loader, Fitzgerald, Holmes, Reading, Lipinski, Rasmussen, Matheson, Trass Crawley, Taucher, Walker, Alexander, Smith. Carterton juniors to play Old Boys at Rugby Park on Saturday will be: — Olliver, Moorcock, Blake (2), Geange; McPhee, Groube, Braggins, Warrington (2), Steffert, Walker, Deller (2), Adams, Hurley, Lane. The Carterton fourths to play College on Saturday will be picked from the following:—Sunkel, Waring, Ireland, Haste, Goodin (2), Henderson, Beere, Morris, Sewell, King, Gain, Davidson, McKenzie Sullavan, Burt, Udy. The bus will leave at 1.30 p.m. sharp. Hockey Teams. The Carterton team to play Dalefield at Carterton on Saturday will be: —Jas. Newbould, A. Harp, S. Fisher, I. Mackie, M. Worsfold, B. Roberts, A. Ward, V. Sayer, D. Jackson, D. Irwin, A. Fisher. The Hinemoa ladies’ senior team to play Kia Ora at Carterton at 2.30 p.m. will be: —T. Compton, V. Ward, Z. Ward, B. McPhee, M. Parker, E. Stubbs, B. Irwin, W. Finn, K. Te Tau, E. Pura, T. Bradbury. The Carterton Hinemoa jjunior girls to play College B at Carterton at 1.30 p.m. is:—L. Hopkins, H. Callender, B. Merwood, A. Williams, Z. Freer, P. Roiguard, R. Stevens, B. Parker, M. McPhee, W. Buick, R. .Hopkins. Emergencies: N. Williams, D. George, F. Eagle. '
