Master Hector, who will carry top weight, is a form horse. He has run into place positions in his last three starts. In the Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase at Wanganui, he set the pace but tired badly over the last furlong. Umpire scored a moderate third at Napier Park, and in the Whakatu Hurdles at Hawke’s Bay he was never likely. Sir Nigel is a horse who might find support. Te Morehu has not raced for some time and might be short of form. A second to Gascon at Foxton might help that horse to find favour especially as- the weight has dropped 31bs. Royal Star won last time he started, but that was some time ago.

Top weight by a pound is Mataroa who will almost be certain to carry most support. Hunting Cat does not look capable of filling a place in this field. A horse who might go well in this race is Reipar while Granvale is about due for a place. The rest do not impress unduly and those fancied may include Mataroa Granvale Reipar

3.20 - AK.ITIO LADY'S BRACELET. One mile and a quarter.

Gentleman riders will try their skill in the Akitio Lady's Bracelet. Kohika will carry top weight but has not raced for some time. Gladium is another who has not started of late but who will be sure to find favour. Full o’ Spirit is a horse who can be expected to go well while Inheritance is also sure to show up. Horses finding favour may include - Kohika Gladium Full o’ Spirit 4.0— GREENHILLS HACK CUP.

The Greenhills Hack Cup, the last race of the day should prove interesting. Morning Flight is billed as top weight but may be in need of a race or two. Seyfried looks like a good thing, while The Ring will probably be supported. Guiding Light is a horse who has been knocking ail the door for some time now and might be well to the fore.
