The collapse of Derbyshire for 20 runs in the first innings against Yorkshire, and the taking of all 10 wickets by Smailes in Derbyshires second inning's were the big sensations of the latest series of English county, cricket matches. In the first innings J. Smurthwaite took five for 7, and Smailes four for 11. In the second innings Smailes took 10 jvickets ioi 47 runs. Yorkshire won by 276 runs.
