RAILWAY TRAGEDY

PENSIONER KILLED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) TIMARU, June 26. Lawrence Thyne, a pensioner, aged 68. was run down by a shunting engine at the Heaton Street railway crossing this evening and killed instantly. The body was badly mutilated. The tragedy was discovered by a railway employee, Mr Patrick O'Neill, who was cycling home along the track. The driver of the engine knew nothing of the accident till after the discovery of the body.
