College C v Featherston at College at 2.45 p.m. Referees. Mrs Staples and D. McGovern. College B v Carterton at Carterton at 1.30 p.m. Referees, G. Morice and E. Fleet. UMPIRES’ ASSOCIATION. MEETING IN MASTERTON. A meeting of the Wairarapa Hockey Umpires’ Association was held in Masterton last evening, there being a good attendance of members. Mr G. Maloney was appointed a referee in the Nordon Cup match at Nelson, and his name will be forwarded to the New Zealand Hockey Association for confirmation. It was decided to hold an examination in theory in the near future and referees desiring to sit for their Wairarapa A grade badge should send in their names to Mr A. Stubbings the examiner. Mr G. Maloney was congratulated on gaining his N.Z. A grade badge. Mr Maloney is the second Wairarapa Referee to gain this distinction. The new rules in men’s hockey which have been adopted by the parent body were freely discussed. Correct interpretations were given, and new rule books were distributed. , It was decided to nold the next meeting at Greytown on July 25.
