THETIS SALVAGE
PREPARATIONS TO RAISE SUBMARINE VESSEL TO BE TAKEN TO ANGLESEY. USE OF SPECIAL STEAMER. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. 9.45 a.m.) RUGBY, June 27. The 3.300 tons steamship Zello, a vessel specially fitted out at Messis Cammell Laird’s shipyard for the Thetis salvage, will leave Birkenhead tomorrow night for Liverpool Bay, where the submarine lies in 155 feet of water. The Liverpool and Glasgow Salvage Association has announced that, if weather conditions are suitable, the main salvage operation will begin with the despatch of salvage craft, lifting wires and other necessary equipment and personnel to the scene of the disaster. Messrs Cammell Laird stated that the submarine would be taken to Red Wharf Bay (Anglesey), the nearest shallow water, and a further decision would be postponed until that part of salvage was complete.
