Sir Robert Craigie has renewed his request for a reply to Britain’s representations. Japanese leaders, including the War and Foreign Ministers and the Premier, after a series of conferences, have decided to present Britain with a series of demands. The details have not been disclosed. JAPANESE INTIMATION RESTRICTIONS TO CONTINUE. MORE CIRCUMSPECT METHODS. (Received This Day, 10.10 a.m.) TIENTSIN, June 27. The commander of the Japanese garrison at Homma stated that, while methods would be more circumspect, restrictions would continue until Britain ceased to support General Chiang Kai-Shek, and co-operated with Japan, even though Britain retaliated. JEERS AT TSINGTAO EFFIGY OF MR CHAMBERLAIN. (Received This Day. 10.45 a.m.’) SHANGHAI, June 27. Britons arriving from Tsingtao, where their ship was delayed four days, said anti-British demonstrations occurred on the waterfront every day, with an outsize effigy of Mr Chamberlain, holding an umbrella, greeted with jeers and shouts of laughter. POSITION OF DOMINIONS REPORTED MESSAGE TO MR CHAMBERLAIN. MATTER FOR WHOLE EMPIRE. (Received This Day, 10.45 a.m.) LONDON, June 27. It is reliably stated in Whitehall that the New Zealand and Australian Governments have jointly advised Mr Chamberlain that any retaliation against the Japanese must be a matter for the whole Empire, and have asked him to proceed cautiously. It is understood, however, that Cabinet is likely to decide on some form of action at tomorrow's meeting.
