WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT HASTWELLS. COMPETITION RESULTS. ("Times-Age” Special.) At. the monthly meeting of the Hastwells Women's Institute. Mrs Madsen presided over a good attendance of members.' Mrs Morris gave a much appreciated report of the annual council meeting which was held in Woodville. Mrs Morris was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. ’~~ The president then called on Mrs B. Lozell (Nireaha) and Mrs J. Payne (Rongokokako) to demonstrate cake icing. This demonstration was watched with keen interest. The competition for the month resulted as follows: —Seniors: Knitted men's socks. Miss A. Dick, 1; Mrs G. Halberg, 2; Mrs Madsen, <3. Juniors: Knitted tea cosy. Miss H. Madsen, 1; Miss K. Larsen, 2; Miss O. Halberg, 3. The game which was conducted by Mrs Morris was won by Miss A. Dick, while quite a number tied for second and third places. The competition on the best flower was won' by Mrs G. Halberg with Miss Fredricksen second and Miss Halberg third. Mrs Lozell and Mrs Payne were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses (Mrs and Miss Thorby). The National Anthem brought an enjoyable gathering to a close.
