STRANDED IN NEW GUINEA WATERS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright, SYDNEY. June 26. The Navigation Department in Sydney has received radio advice that the Japanese freighter China Marti, of 5870 tons,'bound for Sydney, is ashore on St John Island, about 130 miles from Rabaul. The No 1 forepeak tank is badly damaged and the vessel is taking in water. Efforts to refloat the vessel failed.

The China Marti has a general cargo and a crew of 50 Japanese.
