NEW SESSION OPENED BY COMMISSION. MR SAVAGE TEMPORARILY , INDISPOSED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON,. This Day. The first session of the twentysixth Parliament of New Zealand, and the second Parliament to be held by a Labour Government, was opened by commission this afternoon, the commissioners being the Speaker of the Legislative Council, Sir Walter Carncross and the Hons M. Fagan, W. Perry, T. F. Doyle and J. Alexander. The Prime Minister (Mr Savage) was not present at the ceremony, on account of temporary indisposition. It is understood that he is suffering from influenza.

The Governor-General’s Speech, outlining the programme for the session, will be presented tomorrow.
