Silver Ring, winner of the 1934 Epsome Handicap, is to be retired and used as a hack. After Silver Ring finished a bad last in the Canterbury Handicap on Saturday the stewards asked a veterinary surgeon to examine the horse. He expressed the opinion that Silver Ring should not be allowed to race. Thereupon the stewards decided to refuse the nomination of the horse.
