RUSSIAN BALLET GROUP

PERFORMANCE ON SATURDAY EVENING. Making their second and concluding appearance in Masterton. at the Opeia House on Saturday evening, tho members of tho Russian Ballet group again gave an excellent performance, which was received will) marked appi eolation by a fairly large audience. Although the little company consists ot only four dancers —two of either sex —and one musician, the programme submitted was of varied range and touched a high standard in all details. The dancers are all of them talented and highly accomplished and gave proof of their quality equally in items of a classical order and in popular folk dances of a more robust and, in some instances humorous kind. Ladies and men alike showed themselves possessed of dramatic power and of delicate artistry. At all times their graceful and clever work was warmly applauded and they were frequently recalled. . At the piano. Mr Pollack did full justice to the dance music and his skilled and expressive playing of two solos, "Dramatic Waltz" and "Oriental Dance" led to a double encore demand. One of his encore numbers was the "Volga Boatmen," which he played admirably. He was heard also in pianoaccordion solos. The company was saluted with a well-deserved ovation al the conclusion of the performance.
