ON SOVIET-MANCHUKUO BORDER. HEAVY RUSSIAN LOSSES REPORTED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. TOKIO, June 23. A communique from Hsingking states that a severe clash between Russia and Japan occurred on the Manchukuoan border. Eighteen Japanese planes brought down 49 out of 150 Soviet planes which crossed the border. Five Japanese planes crashed. The Japanese also claim that they shot down 12 of 60 Soviet planes which crossed the Manchukuo border east of Lake Buirnor. The communique adds that more than a dozen Soviet planes have repeatedly crossed the frontier since Monday, bombing various centres in Manchukuo. Protests have been ignored. The Manchukuo Government has protested against the Russo-Mongolian aerial activities.
